Introduction

The Civil Aviation industry in India is experiencing an unprecedented growth, due to which there is tremendous pressure on the aviation infrastructure. Many existing airports are already operating near or beyond their design capacity and inordfinate delays are being experienced by flights, especially the ones operating in the peak hours. Many attempts are being made to optimize the usage of the existing facilities and aviation infrastructure, and also upgrading them or developing new ones.

With the recent change in the Aviation Policy by the Government, several vistas in business have opened up and new opportunities have emerged. The creation of new and incumbent airlines and private sector participation in development of Aviation infrastructure is a positive outcome of these new developments. Several global Aviation consultants are eyeing this opportunity and setting up their branches within the country.

Aviation is very strongly driven by global developments and changes in Technology; hence Information, Processes and Operating Procedures become obsolete very soon. Therefore it is very important for the professionals in this field to always remain updated with the latest developments and changes in various disciplines. The two main components of aviation infrastructure are Airports and Air Traffic Management systems. The workshop will expose the participants to the current issues and trends in these areas.

The workshop will consist of around twelve lectures by eminent Aviation professionals on various areas related to Airports and Ai Traffic Management. Sufficient time will be available between lectures and in the evening for informal discussions on related topics and issues, and networking with the participants and the speakers.
