CFD Lab related information
The lab space needs to be redesigned. As of Feb. 2007 we are planning on revamping the lab. We will add more information here as time passes.
Planning
We need to accommodate the following number of students.
- B.Tech. + DDP: 16 (65/4 = (total number of UGs per year/ number of specializations)) x 1 (year for project)
- M.Tech. : 13 (50/4) x 2
- Ph.D.: 4 (15/4 per year) x 1 year (senior PhD's will have their own research scholar area eventually).
This means we need 46 (16+26+4) seats per year. Assuming a factor of 2 in usage we need at least 25 seats for students to sit. We plan to make arrangements in the design of the lab space to accommodate 25 people.

- Fill up the holes
- Get list of furniture to buy
- Decide on number and nature of machines
- Remove unnecessary accounts on both machines and lab access.
- Remove junk from lab.
- Get rid of any unwanted machines.

- Install NX server and clients in appropriate places.
- Convert sun machines to linux.
- Organize disk existing disk space.
- Organized user IDs.
- Plan new layout
- Execute new layout.
