CFD Lab related information

The lab space needs to be redesigned. As of Feb. 2007 we are planning on revamping the lab. We will add more information here as time passes.

Planning

We need to accommodate the following number of students.

• B.Tech. + DDP: 16 (65/4 = (total number of UGs per year/ number of specializations)) x 1 (year for project)
• M.Tech. : 13 (50/4) x 2
• Ph.D.: 4 (15/4 per year) x 1 year (senior PhD's will have their own research scholar area eventually).

This means we need 46 (16+26+4) seats per year. Assuming a factor of 2 in usage we need at least 25 seats for students to sit. We plan to make arrangements in the design of the lab space to accommodate 25 people.

  • We have accomodated 27 seats in the lab with 2.5'X4' table and chair
  • At present we have 11 tables and chairs. We need 16 tables and chairs each.

• Break part of the wall on the corridor to make the appearance uniform?

• Decide on number and nature of machines

  • 6 new machines are proposed.

    • 02 machines: Intel core 2 duo 1.86 (E 6300), 4 GB RAM, 200 GB SATA HDD two in numbers

    • 02 machines: Intel core 2 duo 1.86 (E 6300), 2 GB RAM, 200 GB SATA HDD two in numbers

    • 02 machines: Intel core 2 duo 1.86 (E 6300), 1 GB RAM, 200 GB SATA HDD two in numbers

• Remove unnecessary accounts on both machines and lab access

  • Get the list of students from following faculties
    • Prof. Shevare, Chatterjee, Prabhu and Sinha
  • Remove the logins of other students from CFD lab and digital lock
  • Get the list of Project Staffs/RAs and assign them the digital lock logins

• Remove junk from lab

  • Remove wooden cupboards and the rack (shelf)

• Get rid of unwanted machines

  • prakash(HP) is down, meghna, 2 mac machines, skypak
  • Desk Jet Printers :- 3 in numbers
  • monitors: - 5 in numbers
  • 2 old CPUs
  • 1 scanner
