Sizing and Optimization of High Altitude Airship (HAA) platforms Principal Investigator: Prof. R. S. Pant Aerospace Engineering Department, IIT-Bombay Objective Development of a generic methodology for Sizing and Optimization of High Altitude Airship (HAA) platforms for various applications Scope of Work: To carry out an extensive literature survey and critical review of global stratospheric airship programs to identify various options for HAA configuration. To identify various parameters that affects the sizing of the HAA platform. To develop a methodology for optimized configuration and baseline specifications of the HAA platform. To arrive at a suitable configuration and specification, with trade-off studies amongst various parameters, for the following user requirements: 1. Ambient wind speed 20 to 30 m/s 2. Operating altitude 19 to 21 km 3. Payload: (i) 50 kg with 1kW on-board power (ii) 1000kg with 25kW on-board power PROJECT COMMENCEMENT DATE: December 2008 DURATION: 6 Months |
