About The LTA Systems laboratory

The Lighter-Than-Air Systems Laboratory was established in the year 2002 after completion of the Programme on Airship Design and Development (PADD). The lab is situated in the Department of Aerospace Engineering of the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay. Research carried out in this lab is focussed around developing future-ready airship technology for Indian and International Markets and provide engineering assistance as well as solutions for on-demand scientific and commercial applications like aerial surveillance, disaster management, product promotion and aerial reconnaissance.

About Department of Aerospace Engineering

The Department of Aerospace Engineering was established as Department of Aeronautical Engineering in the year 1966-67. The department is credited with high quality graduate, post-graduate, research and internship programmes. Under the vision of Prof. Pradeep A. M. and guidance of its well-versed team of 22 full-time faculty members, more than 50 staff members, aerosapce engineering department has been passing out highly skilled graduates, post-graduates and research scholars across several sub-discplines related to aerospace engineering including aerodynamics, structures, flight dynamics & control, and propuslsion systems. Ranked as one of the finest technical universities (NIRF#3), the department through vision to foster creativity and growth of excellence, has been creating the leaders of tomorrow across a multitude of aerosapce industries. Its contribution to the overall industrial development as well as economic prosperity of the country attributed to the cadre of engineers and scientists passing out from aerospace engineering department is well established.
