Need for Communications

Communications Subsystem is one of the major subsystems of the Satellite system responsible for establishing link for information transfer between the satellite and the ground station. This link is the only way of learning about the status and health conditions of the satellite during its flight, as well as getting all the information relevant to the payload to be achieved by the satellite. In the case of Pratham, the payload was dependent on successful transmission of downlink and uplink and its successful reception at the ground station. Each satellite launched has to keep special care of the communications subsystem because even if payload is achieved by the satellite itself, we cannot ascertain the success of the satellite unless we receive data from it on our ground station. There are always new things to learn and discover in the field of communications. It is like one of those enormous courses on Modern Physics where one thinks he/she knows everything only to find out towards the end that he/she knows nothing.
With its challenges, importance and learning opportunities, the communication subsystem becomes one of the most important subsystems for the satellite system.
