1. Application forms/procedure
i) Interaction/discussion with the faculty members : The Ph.D. applicants are advised to contact the faculty members working in the areas of research they wish to pursue. They should personally meet with the concerned faculty members, preferably before the technical interview in order to have a perspective of the area of interest, which may facilitate their performance in the interview.
ii) Objective type written test : The applicants will be asked to write an objective type written test in the beginning. This would enable the department to assess the applicants’ basic engineering (relevant discipline) and mathematical skills. The duration of the test will be an hour.
iii) Technical Interview : After the written test, a technical interview will be conducted, which will be of a duration of 30 to 45 minutes. The applicants are expected to come prepared with the general engineering mathematics and the basic engineering subjects relevant to the areas of research they have chosen. They must also be prepared to discuss the Master's thesis work with a good degree of clarity.
